讲座摘要:There are recent flurries of experimental research activities on possible integer and fractional quantum anomalous Hall states in various 2d or layered 2d materials. As the sample quality gets better and better, the plateaus get quantized more or more precisely at integer or fractional values, it becomes important to study the topological phase transitions (TPT) between different gapped topological phases. Here we show that the TPTs can effectively detected by measuring thermodynamic quantities (such as specific heat/compressibility) and transport properties (such as Hall conductance/optical conductivity) at finite temperatures. They satisfy two-parameter scalings determined by both the infra-red and the ultra-violet properties of the system which dictate the local geometry and the global topology respectively. Our methods and results may also lead to a resolution of several long-standing puzzles in the quantum critical scalings
of the plateau-plateau transitions in integer and fractional quantum Hall systems at a finite temperature.
主讲人简介:Prof. Ye received his Ph.D from Yale University. After spending many years in doing research, teaching and services in leading research universities in US and China, He joined the faculty as a chair professor at the newly found Great Bay University in Dongguan, Guangdong, China in July 2023. He is a condensed matter theorist working on the interdisciplinary field of condensed matter, quantum optics, cold atoms and non-relativistic quantum field theory and conformal field theory.Recently, he has been particularly interested to explore possible deep connections among quantum/topological phases, Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev models and quantum black holes from material's point of views.
