摘要:Gas-phase refractory molecules are ideal venues for testing Fundamental Physics and investigating relativistic effects. They also can be used as remote probes of the physical conditions of stellar atmospheres and other energetic environments. The requisite molecular properties for their utilization in these roles are best derived from an analysis of high resolution electronic spectra. Three examples from our recent studies will be highlighted. A sensitive two-dimensional (2D) spectroscopic approach for detection of new molecules will be described.

(b) Optical Zeeman spectroscopy of VO and TiO
(c) Bonding in gold containing molecules
报告人简介: Timothy Steimle is currently a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Arizona State University. He received his B.S. from Michigan State University in 1973 and his Ph.D. from Uiversity of California at Santa Barbara in 1978. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Rice University from 1978 to 1979. He joined the Arizona state University at 1996. He is member of Steering Committee for Int. Symposium on Mol. Spectroscopy since 2016, and member of the Editorial Board of J. Mol. Spectroscopy since 2012. His Research Interest is Electronic and microwave spectroscopy of gas-phase metal-containing relevant to catalysis, astronomy and fundamental physics
